National Lottery Sold for £400 Million
The widely known National Lottery operator, Camelot has been sold to a Canadian teachers' pwension fund for £389m.
Camelot, which until the sale was owned by a consortium which included the also well know business brand, Cadbury has been in charge of the UK's largest lottery since it began in 1994.
The question as to the impact on national interest will be a key factor in a successful completion of the sale.
The buyer, and possible new owner of Camelot, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is in control of more than a quarter of a million Canadian teachers.
The addition of Camelot would add to a wide range of existing investments in the UK including Birmingham and Bristol airports and a 27% stake in Northumbrian Water.
